Imelda du Toit was born and raised in South Africa and moved to Hong Kong when her husband accepted an incredible job opportunity there.

She has travelled extensively and is a self-taught photographer.

Like all good stories, her woodwork journey started with wine. Or an empty wine crate, to be more precise. She grew up with her dad doing carpentry in his spare time and has always appreciated the medium. As travelling wasn’t really an option during the covid years, her attention could be given to experimenting with wood designs and learning new skills. Cutting up the wine crate she and her husband just emptied, sparked a newfound wealth of creativity and led to her unique artwork.

She uses a combination of wood stock from the local hardware store in Sai Kung and rescued furniture that she re-purposes to use in her pieces. She finds it very rewarding when real wood doesn’t end up in the landfill.

Geometric and three-dimensional pieces is her go-to for designs, but she is continuously coming up with new ideas to experiment with.

All available pieces are ready for purchase in the shop.
